Susquehanna Blanks Men’s Soccer, 3-0

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Despite holding advantages in shots (10-8) and corner kicks (5-3), the Lebanon Valley College men’s soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Susquehanna University in Commonwealth Conference action Saturday afternoon.

Susquehanna (6-4-1, 3-1 CC) struck quickly, as Seth Baughman scored in the fifth minute. The Crusaders led 2-0 at the half following Phil Smeltz’s goal in the 23rd minute.

Mark Richter provided the finishing touches for Susquehanna with a 76th-minute goal.

Sophomore Tim Mehl started in goal for Lebanon Valley (3-9, 0-4 CC), allowing all three goals while making two saves in 82:01. Classmate Andrew Raudensky played the rest of the way and did not record a save.

Austin Kelsey needed only two saves to pick up the shutout for Susquehanna.

Lebanon Valley returns to action on Wednesday, when it hosts the University of Scranton in a non-conference match.
