Swimming Teams Compete at Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men’s and women’s swimming teams each earned a split in a double-dual meet at Lycoming College Saturday afternoon.

The men’s team defeated FDU-Florham 110-5 but lost 74-47 to Lycoming. The women’s squad came away with a 92-26 win over FDU-Florham but fell 81-39 to Lycoming.

LVC’s men’s team is now 6-3 while the women’s squad saw its record move to 5-6.

On  the men’s side, Lebanon Valley earned six first-place finishes. Freshman Kevin Carney led the way with three wins, capturing the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.92), the 200-yard backstroke (2:02), and the 400-yard IM (4:34.00). Senior Isaac Greene was victorious in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.91) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.95) while the 200-yard freestyle relay team of junior Matt Woods, freshman Scott Beesley, sophomore Jared Wilkerson, and freshman Greg Kauffman touched the wall first in 1:39.66.

Junior Danielle Kern paced the women’s team with a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle, clocking a 5:33.58. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of junior Amy Miceli, freshman Lauren Horst, freshman Christina Schreiner, and senior Sam Meglino swam a winning time of 1:55.69.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday, when they host Arcadia University in a dual meet.
