ANNVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus’ Elaine DiFeliciantonio scored the game’s lone goal in the 81st minute, and the Bears defeated Lebanon Valley 1-0 in a non-conference women’s soccer affair and LVC’s home opener Thursday afternoon at Herbert Field.

Ursinus improved to 2-0-0 with the win while Lebanon Valley dropped to 0-2-0.

Following a corner kick, DiFeliciantonio accepted a pass from Sarah Gardner in front of the net and deposited a shot low and to the left of Lebanon Valley freshman goalie Erika Ely with 9:55 showing on the clock.

The Bears’ defense prevented the Valley from taking a shot in the second half, in which it out-shot LVC 11-0. For the game, Ursinus out-shot LVC 19-4 and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Ely finished with six saves in her first collegiate start. Ursinus goalie Ashley Potter needed to make only one save to earn the shutout.

Lebanon Valley returns to action on Saturday, when it visits Wilkes in another non-conference match starting at 1 p.m.
