Women’s Soccer Ties St. Mary’s, 1-1

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Senior Jess Conrad made seven saves and Lebanon Valley tied St. Mary’s (Md.) 1-1 in a non-conference women’s soccer game Saturday afternoon at Herbert Field.

With the tie, Lebanon Valley (0-6-1) halted a six-match losing streak to start the season. St. Mary’s (3-3-1) snapped a three-match losing streak of its own.

Sophomore Ashley Wells gave the Valley a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal midway through the second half. The Seahawks tied it up in the 81st minute on an unassisted goal by Megan Schmidt.

Conrad and St. Mary’s goalie Marie Oben shut out their opponents the rest of the way, as the two teams settled for the tie. Conrad finished with seven saves while Oben made three stops.

St. Mary’s out-shot LVC 19-16 and held an 8-5 advantage in penalty kicks.

Lebanon Valley picks up its schedule on Tuesday, when it visits Franklin & Marshall at 4:30 p.m. in another non-conference game.
