TOWSON, Md. – The Lebanon Valley College women’s tennis team won its third straight match to open the season, defeating host Goucher College 6-3 in a non-conference affair Monday afternoon.
LVC (3-0) fell behind 2-1 after losing two of three doubles matches, but roared back to claim five of six singles contest en route to the victory.
Senior Jenny Larson and freshman Jan White gave the Valley its lone doubles point, as the pair scored an 8-1 at the second slot.
In singles play, sophomore Leslie Sabas was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No.1 while Larson rallied for a 0-6, 6-4, 10-7 super-tiebreaker win at No. 3. Winning at Nos. 4-6, respectively, were senior Amanda Lubold (6-4, 6-2), freshman Charissa Nordall (6-2, 6-3), and junior Angela Esh (4-6, 6-0, 6-1).
Lebanon Valley plays its Commonwealth Conference opener on Tuesday, when it hosts Moravian College at 4 p.m.
