ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team won five of six singles matches and defeated King's 5-2 in non-conference action and the Flying Dutchmen's final dual match of the season Sunday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.
King's (7-14) won two of three doubles matches to grab the doubles point before LVC (8-9) stormed back with wins at second through sixth singles.
Freshman Shawn Becker and sophomore Erik Vargo were the Dutchmen's lone doubles winners, as the pair won 8-5 for their fifth win in a row while improving to 6-1.
Becker also won in singles play, scoring a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 victory at No. 5 to push his season record to 12-6.
Other singles winners were sophomore Stu Hartman, sophomore Zach Kaufman, senior Zach Cook, and senior Sean Weir. Hartman won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 to improve to 9-7 while Kaufman squeaked out a 7-5, 7-5 victory at No. 3. Cook earned a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 4, and Weir pushed his record to 8-5 with a 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 6.
Lebanon Valley concludes its season on Saturday and Sunday, when it competes in the Commonwealth Conference individual championships, held on the campuses of DeSales University and Moravian College.
