GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to second-seeded Messiah in the Commonwealth Conference championship tournament semifinals Thursday afternoon at Messiah.
The No. 3 seed in the tournament, LVC fell to 7-9 with a pair of non-conference matches remaining on its schedule. Messiah (11-2) will move on to Saturday’s Commonwealth Conference championship match to face the winner of the other semifinal between top-seeded Elizabethtown and fourth-seeded Albright.
Messiah won all six singles matches and two of three doubles contests. Freshman Shawn Becker and sophomore Erik Vargo recorded the Flying Dutchmen’s lone victory of the day, as they won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles to improve to 5-1.
Lebanon Valley returns to the courts on Sunday, when it hosts King’s in a non-conference match starting at 1 p.m.
