ANNVILLE, Pa. – Eastern University won the doubles point, then won three of four singles matches to hold on for a 4-3 win over Lebanon Valley Tuesday afternoon in non-conference men’s tennis action at the LVC Tennis Courts.
Sophomore Erik Vargo rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles for Lebanon Valley (2-4) to stay undefeated for the season at 6-0. Freshman Shawn Becker won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 while senior Sean Weir captured a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory at sixth singles in his collegiate debut.
Becker and junior John Henry posted the Flying Dutchmen’s lone doubles win with an 8-3 victory at No. 3.
Lebanon Valley plays its Commonwealth Conference opener on Thursday, when it hosts Elizabethtown at 3:30 p.m.
