Box Score

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Sophomore Shauna Enck scored with 14:21 left to break a 1-1 tie and lift No. 12-ranked and third-seeded Lebanon Valley to a 2-1 victory over second-seeded Susquehanna University in the Commonwealth Conference field hockey semifinals at Sassafras Field on Wednesday night.

The Dutchmen (16-4) will travel to Messiah College, a 3-0 winner over Elizabethtown College in the other semifinal game, on Saturday to determine the conference champion and the automatic berth to the NCAA Division III tournament. It will be Lebanon Valley’s second-straight Commonwealth championship game appearance.

Enck’s 16th goal of the season came off a feed from sophomore Alyssa Stine and capped a Lebanon Valley rally from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Junior Mallary Anderson tied the game with 21:34 left as her shot off a penalty corner by classmate Claire Behney ricocheted high off a Crusader defender and past goalie Lyndsay Meabon for her third goal of the season.

Susquehanna (10-9) scored the opening goal of the match just 8:47 into the contest as senior Caitlin Meara scored her second goal of the season off a rebound of a shot from junior Jenni Iacovone.

The Crusaders fired three shots on goal in the final five minutes, but Lebanon Valley keeper Katie Pawlewicz made three of her five saves to preserve the Dutchmen’s one-goal lead.

Lebanon Valley finished with a 14-8 advantage in shots and a 12-3 edge in penalty corners. Shelley Reppert made a defensive save for the Crusaders while junior Krista Anderson made one for the Dutchmen, both coming in the second half.
