GRANTHAM, Pa. - Lebanon Valley shut out No. 1-ranked Messiah College in the second half, but the Falcons' three first-half goals were enough to defeat LVC 3-0 Tuesday evening in a semifinal match of the Commonwealth Conference women's soccer championship tournament.
 
Fourth-seeded Lebanon Valley (5-9-4) will now hope for a possible ECAC playoff berth while top-seeed Messiah stayed undefeated (17-0) and advances to Saturday's Commonwealth championship.
 
Annie Futato scored in the 17th minute to give the Falcons all the offense it would need. Hannah Levesque, who assisted on Futato's goal, scored two goals of her own, in the 19th and 23rd minutes, to set the final score.
 
After getting out-shot 10-1 in the opening half, LVC limited the Falcons to five shots in the second stanza. However, Messiah prevented the Valley from taking a second-half shot.
 
Senior goalie Jess Conrad made six saves for LVC in what could have been the final game of a brilliant career. Cassie Grose had one save for Messiah.
