photoBox Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Junior Keri Foster scored an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute, and Lebanon Valley blanked Albright College the rest of the way to earn a crucial 1-1 tie in Commonwealth Conference women’s soccer action and the regular season conference finale for both teams Saturday afternoon at Herbert Field.

With the tie, coupled with Moravian’s 2-0 win over Susquehanna, Lebanon Valley (5-8-4, 2-4-2 CC) has qualified for the Commonwealth Conference playoffs for the fifth time in the last six years. LVC finished fourth in the conference standings to earn the four seed in the Commonwealth playoffs. The Valley will visit top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Messiah College on Tuesday in the conference semifinals.

Foster blasted a shot from the top of the box and into the upper left corner of the net on Lebanon Valley’s ninth and final shot of regulation. The LVC defensive unit made Foster’s goal stand up, keeping Albright (13-5-2, 2-4-1 CC) from taking a shot the rest of the way.

The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when senior Bethann Pagano headed in a corner kick from sophomore Stephanie Deswert. Pagano’s goal was the first scored against LVC in six games and the first since the team’s 4-0 loss to Messiah on Oct. 13.

Lebanon Valley extended its unbeaten streak (4-0-2) to six games for the first time since the 2003 season.

Senior Jess Conrad saved three shots in goal for Lebanon Valley while sophomore Jess Schmura made five saves for the Lions.
