photoBox Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Erin McGarvey scored the game’s only goal and classmate Erika Ely saved three shots as Lebanon Valley recorded its fourth straight shutout, blanking DeSales University 1-0 in non-conference women’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Due to rain that made Herbert Field unplayable, the match was played on Lebanon Valley’s practice field.

Lebanon Valley has now shut out its opponent four times in a row for the first time since it put together six straight shutouts to end the 1999 campaign.

McGarvey gave LVC (4-8-3) all the scoring it would need when she booted in a shot from just inside the 18 and into the far side of the net for her second goal of the season.

Lebanon Valley out-shot DeSales (6-7-2) 20-5, but Bulldog goalie Kelly Hinkle made nine saves.

Ely’s shutout was her second of the season.

LVC plays its third home match in four days on Sunday, when it takes on Susquehanna University at 1 p.m. in a Commonwealth Conference contest.
