HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women’s tennis team dropped a 7-1 Commonwealth Conference decision to Messiah College in both teams’ regular season conference finale on Monday at the Hershey Racquet Club.
With the loss, Lebanon Valley (6-3, 3-3 CC) finishes fourth in the Commonwealth standings and will return to the conference playoffs for the second year in a row. LVC will visit Moravian College (13-1, 5-1 CC), which finished first in the conference, on Wednesday in the Commonwealth semifinals. Lebanon Valley handed Moravian its only loss of the season with a 5-4 win back on Sept. 13.
Messiah (8-2, 4-2 CC), the third-place finisher in the Commonwealth, will visit Elizabethtown (8-2, 5-1 CC) in the other semifinal match on Wednesday.
The match began with singles matches being played first, and Messiah jumped out to a 5-1 lead. Sophomore Leslie Sabas won 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to give LVC its lone point.
Only two of three doubles matches were completed.
