ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley’s men’s and women’s teams combined to break three school records, but both squads fell to Widener University in a Middle Atlantic Conference swimming meet Friday evening at the LVC Swimming Pool.
Widener claimed a 100-74 victory on the men’s side to improve to 4-1 while its women’s team prevailed 94-81 to push its record to 2-4.
LVC’s men’s team is now 4-7 while the women’s squad fell to 4-9.
On the men’s side, junior Isaac Greene finished second in the 100-meter breast and reset his own school record set last season with a time of 1:15.54. Greene also teamed up with sophomore Matt Woods, freshman Jared Wilkerson, and freshman Daniel Wolford to set a school record in the 400-free relay. The squad took second with a time of 4:02.27, just edging the former record of 4:02.65 set in 2002.
Junior Sam Meglino led the women’s team with a record-breaking performance in the 200-meter fly. After the meet, Meglino swam to a school-record time of 3:08.08 to better the former standard of 3:13.97 set by Jamie Kendall ’04 in 2001. Meglino’s time also qualified her for the MAC Championships.
LVC’s 12 seniors were honored in a brief ceremony prior to the start of the meet.
Lebanon Valley returns to the pool on Saturday, Feb. 5, when it visits Susquehanna University in another MAC meet.
