ANNVILLE, Pa. –  Senior Ilyse Resnick (Holland, Pa./Council Rock) scored a first-half goal, and sophomore Keri Foster (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) converted a penalty kick midway through the second half as Lebanon Valley scored a 2-0 victory over Franklin & Marshall College in a non-conference women’s soccer game Thursday afternoon at Herbert Field.

The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was moved to Thursday due to heavy rain.

Lebanon Valley won its third straight match and improved to 5-2-1. F&M fell to 3-5-0.

Resnick put LVC on the board in the 30th minute when she dribbled through several defenders to break free for a one-on-one inside the box. She ripped the ball into the left side of the net for her third goal of the season.

Lebanon Valley out-shot F&M 8-4 in the opening stanza, and junior Jess Conrad (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) made two of her three saves in the period.

The Flying Dutchmen turned up the pressure in the second half, in which they out-shot the Diplomats 10-3. However, Foster’s penalty kick goal was the only shot to get by F&M keeper Melissa Ruff. LVC received the kick when an F&M defender was whistled for a handball inside the box.

Foster’s goal was her team-leading fifth of the season and her fourth in the last two games. It was also her third penalty kick goal in the last two games.

Conrad finished with three saves to improve to 3-1-1 on the season while posting her third shutout of the year. She has not allowed a goal in her last 258:01 of play.

Lebanon Valley out-shot Franklin & Marshall 19-7 for the game.

LVC picks up its schedule on Saturday, when it visits Moravian College in a Commonwealth Conference match starting at 1 p.m.
