EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley won five of six singles matches to erase a 2-1 deficit and beat Wilkes University 6-3 in a non-conference women's tennis match Saturday afternoon.
Wilkes (3-5) won two of three doubles matches to build a 2-1 lead. Juniors Jenny Larson (Kelso, Wash./Kelso) and Angie Petiak (Wapwallopen, Pa./Berwick) earned the Valley's lone doubles point with an 8-3 win at the No. 2 spot. With the win, the pair stayed undefeated on the season, improving to 7-0.
Larson also won in singles play, capturing a 6-1, 6-1 decision at the fifth position. Other singles winners were freshman Brooke Sensenig (Denver, Pa./Cocalico), who won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1, junior Amanda Lubold (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley), who scored a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3, senior Chris Jessen (Newfield, N.J./Woodstown), who picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4, and sophomore Angela Esh (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor), who came away with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
Lubold is now 6-3 in singles action while Jessen is 5-2.
Lebanon Valley returns to Commonwealth Conference play on Tuesday, when it visits Moravian at 3:30 p.m.
