CHESTER, Pa. – Freshman Alyssa Stine (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) was in a generous mood on Thursday, assisting on all four of No. 20 Lebanon Valley's goals in a 4-1 Commonwealth Conference victory at Widener.
LVC won its fourth game in a row and improved to 7-3 and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference. Widener slipped to 2-2 and 1-1 in conference play.
Stine entered the game with six assists, and she has now tied the single-season school record of 10 held by Erin Sanno '98 (1997) and Beth Light '01 (2000).
The Pioneers took an early 1-0 lead after Jamie Carr scored six and a half minutes into the game. But LVC evened things up on a goal from sophomore Steph Marguglio (Bridgeton, N.J./Bridgeton) with 13:51 left in the half. Freshman Mimi Sullivan (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) gave LVC the lead for good when, with no time on the clock in the opening stanza, she punched in her fourth goal of the season.
Marguglio and junior Missy Shultz (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) put the game out of reach when the pair scored six minutes apart early in the second half.
Marguglio now has 14 goals for the season and has already bettered her mark of 13 goals scored last season. Shultz's goal was her seventh of the year.
Sophomore Katie Pawlewicz (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) earned the win between the pipes for LVC, as she stopped three shots while improving to 6-1-0. Katie Heritage recorded nine saves for Widener.
Lebanon Valley out-shot the Pioneers 15-9.
LVC concludes its six-game road trip when it visits Dickinson College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in a non-conference outing.
