ANNVILLE, Pa. – Freshman goalie Holly Walton (Galloway, N.J./Pilgrim Academy) saved all nine shots she faced to earn her second straight shutout as the Lebanon Valley College women’s soccer team defeated Wilkes 2-0 in non-conference play Saturday afternoon at Herbert Field.
Lebanon Valley (2-1-1) won its second straight match after starting the season 0-1-1. Wilkes (2-2-0) lost for the first time in three matches.
Senior Christine Schmidt (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) put the Dutchmen on the board in the 33rd minute when she converted a feed from freshman Ashley Wells (Mechanicsburg, Pa./East Pennsboro) to make it a 1-0 game. In the 80th minute, freshman Kristen Hoover (Muncy, Pa./Hughsville) padded the Dutchmen’s lead with her team-leading third goal of the season. Sophomore Keri Foster (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) added the assist on Hoover’s goal.
The Dutchmen return to the field on Tuesday when they host Gettysburg College in a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Herbert Field.
