ANNVILLE, Pa. – With four singles wins and three doubles victories, the Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team kept its undefeated record intact, beating the University of Scranton 5-2 in MAC non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.
Lebanon Valley pushed its record to 10-0 on the season while Scranton fell to 5-5.
In doubles action, junior Ryan Wendell (Shiloh, N.J./Cumberland Regional) and freshman Stuart Hartman (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) won 8-3 at No. 1 and extended their undefeated record to 10-0. Senior Andy Platt (York, Pa./York Suburban) and freshman Erik Vargo (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) won 8-0 at No. 2 to improve to 9-1 while senior Chris Keeney (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) and junior Zach Cook (Schaefferstown, Pa./ELCO) won 8-3 at No. 3.
In singles play, Wendell won in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, at No. 1. Vargo stayed undefeated on the season at 10-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 while Hartman earned a 6-1, 1-6, 6-0 victory at No. 5. Cook also won at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and remained undefeated at 9-0.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Thursday, when it hosts Moravian College at 3:30 p.m. in a Commonwealth Conference match.
