COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.  – The Lebanon Valley College men's tennis team won its third straight match to open the season, as the Flying Dutchmen defeated Ursinus College 5-2 Monday afternoon.

LVC won the doubles point by winning two of three matches, then won at first through fourth singles.

In doubles action, freshman Stuart Hartman (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and senior Ryan Wendell (Shiloh, N.J./Cumberland Regional) won at the No. 1 position as the pair improved to 3-0 on the season. Freshman Erik Vargo (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) and senior Andy Platt (York, Pa./York Suburban) also stayed undefeated this year with an 8-4 victory at second doubles.

Wendell also picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at first singles while senior Chris Keeney (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) recorded a 6-3, 6-4 win at second singles. Vargo won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles while Platt scored a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 win at fourth singles as both players improved to 3-0 on the season.

Lebanon Valley returns to action on Wednesday when it visits Widener University in a Commonwealth Conference match starting at 3:30 p.m.
