Swimming Drops a Pair at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College swimming teams were swept by the University of Scranton Saturday afternoon in a non-conference meet.

Both of Lebanon Valley’s teams fell to 0-2 with the losses. Scranton’s men’s team is now 1-0 while its women’s team is 1-1.

Junior Jenn Kush (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) was the lone winner on the day for Lebanon Valley. Kush captured the 100-yard back in 1:05.15.

Three members of the women’s team finished third in their respective events. Sophomore Ann Heckman (Mercerburg, Pa./James Buchanan) was third in the 200-yard free (2.25.54), as was senior Joanna Tiedeken (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) in the 50-yard free (28.08). Sophomore Danielle Kern (Warminster, Pa./William Tennet) added a third-place finish in the 500-free (6:22.90).

For the men’s team, sophomore Matt Woods (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) led the way with a second-place finish in the 100-yard breast (1:12.92). Freshman Dan Wolford (Lebanon, Pa./home-schooled) added a pair of third-place finishes. He recorded a 12:31.17 clocking in the 1,000-yard free and a mark of 2:30.81 in the 200-yard IM. Freshman Kris Gazsi (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was third in the 500-free (6:04.73).

Lebanon Valley returns to the pool next Saturday, when it hosts Juniata and Drew at 1 p.m.
