ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College swimming teams opened their dual meet schedule on Wednesday against Albright College, and the Lions won both the men's and women's meets.
Albright won 117-69 on the men's side while its women's team captured a 115-82 decision.
Both Lion teams are now 2-0 while LVC's men's and women's teams are 0-1.
Lebanon Valley won three events on the women's side. Junior Jenn Kush (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) captured the 100-meter backstroke in a Middle Atlantic Conference championship-qualifying time of 1:13.32, less than a second off her own school-record time. Sophomore Danielle Kern (Warminster, Pa./William Tennet) touched the wall first in the 800-meter freestyle in 11:19.50, while classmate Hannah Plimpton (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) won the 100-meter breaststroke in an MAC-qualifying time of 1:24.65, less than a second shy of the LVC record.
On the men's side, junior Isaac Greene (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) enjoyed an outstanding meet. He qualified for MACs in three different events, including the 200-meter freestyle (2:08.47), the 200-meter IM (2:28.91), and the 100-meter freestyle (59.91 seconds).
Freshman Dan Wolford (Lebanon, Pa./home-schooled) added an MAC-qualifying performance in the 100-meter backstroke (1:12.25), as did sophomore Matt Woods (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) in the 100-meter butterfly (1:08.09).
Both teams return to the pool on Saturday, when they visit the University of Scranton for a dual meet starting at 1 p.m.
