LANCASTER, Pa – Lebanon Valley received goals from three different players and the No. 13 Lebanon Valley knocked off 11th-ranked and top-seeded Franklin & Marshall 3-1 in the ECAC field hockey Mid-Atlantic Region quarterfinals Wednesday afternoon.
With the win, eighth-seeded LVC (16-7) advances to the tournament semifinals to face fourth-seeded Manhattanville, a 2-1 winner over fifth-seeded Monclair State in its quarterfinal game. The game will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Alvernia College, the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Final Four host.
Third-seeded Utica and second-seeded Alvernia will meet in the other semifinal at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The tournament championship game will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Lebanon Valley took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when freshman Shauna Enck (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) knocked in her second goal of the season. Just over four minutes later, classmate Mimi Sullivan (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) potted her eighth goal of the season, which also held up as the game-winner.
After F&M (15-5) cut the gap in half following a goal by Brenna Dolphin in the 27th minute, freshman Alyssa Stine (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) gave the Valley an insurance goal in the 32nd minute when she punched in her ninth tally of the season.
Sophomore goalie Katie Pawlewicz (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) made the lead stand up, saving all three shots she faced in the second half to earn her 15th win of the season. She finished with six saves for the game.
Lebanon Valley out-shot the Diplomats 31-12.
