ANNVILLE, Pa. – Goucher College won two of three doubles matches, then went 3-3 in singles play to edge out Lebanon Valley 5-4 in non-conference women's tennis action Thursday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.
Lebanon Valley, playing for the fifth time in the last six days, saw its record level at 7-7 with the loss while Goucher hiked its season mark to 3-3.
Freshman Brooke Sensenig (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) and senior Chris Jessen (Newfield, N.J./Woodstown) captured LVC's lone doubles win with an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 flight.
In singles play, freshman Leslie Sabas (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), junior Amanda Lubold (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley), and junior Jenny Larson (Kelso, Wash./Kelso) each came out victorious. Sabas won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1 singles while Lubold posted a 5-7, 6-5 (7-3), 12-10 win at the second slot while improving to 9-5. Larson lost only two games at sixth singles, winning 6-0, 6-2 to push her record to 7-3.
Lebanon Valley plays its final dual match of the fall season when it visits King's College on Tuesday in a non-conference contest starting at 3:30 p.m.
