ANNVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Ashley Watson (Columbia Cross Roads, Pa./Troy) and senior Amanda Bahn (York, Pa./Spring Grove) fired up a match-high 12 kills apiece, and the Lebanon Valley College volleyball team concluded its Commonwealth Conference regular season schedule with a 3-0 (30-17, 30-19, 30-17) sweep over Albright Tuesday evening on Senior Night at the LVC Gymnasium.
Lebanon Valley (22-5) finished 5-2 in the Commonwealth Conference and has qualified for the conference tournament for the fourth consecutive season. The Flying Dutchmen will take on an opponent to be determined in the tournament semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 3.
LVC never trailed against Albright. In Game One, the Valley jumped out to a 12-6 lead, and the Lions were unable to get the deficit under five the rest of the way. The Dutchmen led just 16-13 in the second game before an 8-2 run gave LVC a comfortable 24-15 lead. Lebanon Valley raced to a 14-2 advantage before cruising the rest of the way to win Game Three.
Freshman Jess Guntz (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) added 10 kills for LVC while junior Katie Ferree (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) had a match-high 15 digs. Bahn served up a match-high four aces while junior setter Cat Roth (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) had 34 assists.
Abbey Reames paced Albright (13-17, 0-6 CC) with nine kills and 12 digs while Keri Wischner added 12 digs of her own.
Lebanon Valley hit .328 for the game while holding Albright to .045 hitting.
LVC concludes its regular season on Saturday, when it visits Haverford College for a tri-match that also features Dickinson. Lebanon Valley plays Dickinson at 2 p.m. and Haverford at 4 p.m.
