ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team won a pair of home matches in a home tri-match on Saturday at the LVC Gymnasium.
The Flying Dutchmen started the day by defeating the University of Scranton, ranked eighth in the region, 3-0 (30-18, 30-20, 30-21). LVC closed the afternoon with an identical 3-0 (30-16, 30-15, 30-23) sweep of Gallaudet.
With the victories, Lebanon Valley (21-5) has now won 20 games or more in each of the last four seasons.
LVC, ranked fourth in the region, has won 10 of its last 11 matches.
Against Scranton, freshman Jess Guntz (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) paced the Valley with a team-high nine kills. She also had three blocks, leading LVC to an eight-block match. Senior Amanda Bahn (York, Pa./Spring Grove) added eight kills, three blocks, and three aces while sophomore Natalie Goodfellow (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) had six kills and three blocks. Junior Katie Ferree (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) notched 11 digs while junior Cat Roth (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) dished out 29 assists.
Guntz had another outstanding match against Gallaudet, firing up a team-high 14 kills. Goodfellow recorded 13 kills while Watson had seven. Freshman Jill Miller (New Oxford, Pa./Delone Catholic) and sophomore Steph Bedgar (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquenita) served up three aces apiece while Ferree had 16 digs. Roth handed out 37 assists.
Lebanon Valley plays its final Commonwealth Conference regular season match of the year when it hosts Albright College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
