Resnick Saves the Day for Women’s Soccer

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With her team trailing 2-0, senior Ilyse Resnick (Holland, Pa./Council Rock) scored three straight second-half goals to lead the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over host Moravian in Commonwealth Conference action Saturday afternoon.

Lebanon Valley, which has won its last four matches, improved to 6-2-1 and 2-0-0 in the Commonwealth. Moravian fell to 5-4-1 and 0-3-0 in conference play.

The Greyhounds struck twice over the game's first 28 minutes to assume a 2-0 advantage. Moravian's first goal ended LVC keeper Jess Conrad's (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) unscored upon streak at 263:46, and was the first goal she allowed since Sept. 14 against Gettysburg.

Moravian out-shot LVC 10-3 in the opening stanza, but Conrad saved five shots as the Greyhounds took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

Twenty-three minutes passed in the second half before Resnick caught fire. In the 68th minute, she scored unassisted from 10 yards out to cut the deficit to 2-1. Four minutes later, she booted a shot from eight yards away into an open net to even the score.

Resnick applied the finishing touches to her hat trick when, in the 82nd minute, she took a cross from sophomore Keri Foster (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) and drilled in a shot from eight yards away for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

The Greyhounds out-shot the Flying Dutchmen again in the second half, this time by an 8-4 count, but Conrad stopped Moravian's only attempt on goal. She finished with six saves while Jill Vaccaro turned aside two LVC shots.

Lebanon Valley picks up its schedule on Tuesday, when it visits Elizabethtown at 6 p.m. in another Commonwealth contest.
