SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Nate Snyder scored with just eight seconds remaining in regulation, and Susquehanna and Lebanon Valley played to a 2-2 tie in Commonwealth Conference men’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Prior to Snyder’s game-tying goal, Lebanon Valley (7-4-2, 2-1-2 CC) had taken a 2-1 lead with 2:00 showing on the clock after senior Brian Sapienza (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) scored off an assist from senior Fran Pitonyak (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost) for his fourth goal of the season.
Susquehanna took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute when Justin Maker scored off a Snyder assist. LVC pulled even in the 48th minute after freshman Nick Wanyo (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) scored unassisted for his fourth goal of the season.
Both teams took 12 shots on the afternoon, but Susquehanna out-shot LVC 7-2 over the two overtime periods. However, none of the Crusaders’ overtime shots were on goal.
Freshman John Mentzer (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) did not have a save for the Dutchmen, while Nick Hoover made seven stops for Susquehanna.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Wednesday, when it visits Alvernia College at 4 p.m. in a non-conference match.
