SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna scored three unanswered goals in the first half, and the Crusaders defeated Lebanon Valley 3-1 in a Commonwealth Conference women’s soccer game Saturday afternoon.
Lebanon Valley fell to 7-4-2 and 2-2-0 in Commonwealth Conference play. Susquehanna improved to 10-3-1 and 4-0-1 in the Commonwealth.
Senior Ilyse Resnick (Holland, Pa./Council Rock) put LVC on top 1-0 in the 15th minute when she took a pass from freshman Julia Cupp (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and punched in her team-leading 10th goal of the season.
Susquehanna took a 2-0 lead after scoring twice over a 3:48 span midway through the half. Jess Paulshock converted a feed from Lindsay Nevins to make it 1-1 before an own goal gave the Crusaders the lead. Paulshock provided Suquehanna with an insurance goal in the 43rd minute when she drilled in her team-leading 16th goal of the season.
Junior Jess Conrad (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) played the opening 45 minutes for LVC and allowed all three goals while making two saves. Freshman Holly Walton (Galloway, N.J./Pilgrim Academy) relieved Conrad in the second half and shut out the Crusaders while making three saves.
Kim Wild stopped three shots to earn the win in goal for Susquehanna.
The Crusaders out-shot LVC 14-4.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Wednesday, when it hosts Messiah College in a Commonwealth Conference match starting at 4 p.m.
