ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Jess Guntz (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) led all players with 20 kills as the Lebanon Valley College volleyball team toppled Moravian College 3-1 in Commonwealth Conference action Tuesday evening.
Lebanon Valley (17-4, 3-2 CC) won the first set 30-24 before Moravian (12-14, 1-4 CC) tied things up with a 30-28 victory in Game Two. However, LVC closed the match with 30-22 and 30-27 victories.
The Flying Dutchmen pushed their winning streak to six and have now won eight of their last nine matches.
Guntz, who registered her second straight 20-kill match, committed only two errors on 38 attempts for a .474 hitting percentage. She also had a match-high four blocks, including three solo stuffs.
Sophomore Natalie Goodfellow (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) and freshman Ashley Watson (Columbia Cross Roads, Pa./Troy) added 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Junior setter Cat Roth (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) recorded a double-double with 48 assists and a match-high 16 digs. Junior Katie Ferree (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) (14) and senior Amanda Bahn (York, Pa./Spring Grove) (10) also reached double figures in digs while freshman Jill Miller (New Oxford, Pa./Delone Catholic) served up a match-high four aces.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Saturday, when it travels to Pitt-Johnstown for a tri-match. LVC will take on Lycoming College at 1 p.m. and UPJ at 3 p.m.
