ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Isaac Greene (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) tied a school record in the 100-meter breaststroke and the Lebanon Valley College swimming teams swept Arcadia University in non-conference action Tuesday evening at the Arnold Sports Center.
Lebanon Valley’s men’s team won by a 74-41 count, while the LVC women captured a 120-81 decision.
Greene swam to a time of 1:16.10, tying the LVC record originally set up Bob Twining ’96 in 1992. Although he recorded the fastest time, he did not receive first-place points because Lebanon Valley exhibitioned the event.
Senior Adam Demchak (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) and freshman Matt Woods (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) also had an outstanding meet for the Valley. Demchak won both the 50-meter free (27.95 seconds) and 100-meter free (1:02.34) while Woods captured the 200-meter free (2:26.68) and 100-meter fly (1:11.84).
Junior Christopher Whitcomb (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) also turned in a first-place showing, as he won the 200-meter IM in 3:16.93.
The women’s team racked up six victories for the meet. Sophomore Sam Meglino (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) won the 100-meter fly (1:19.79), as did senior Joanna Tiedeken (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) in the 100-meter free (1:10.39). Sophomore Jenn Kush (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) touched the wall first in the 100-meter back (1:17.33) while freshman Danielle Kern (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) prevailed in the 400-meter free (5:32.67). Freshman Hannah Plimpton (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) rounded out the women’s team individual winners, as she placed first in the 100-meter breast in 1:24.74.
In addition, the women’s 200-medley relay team of Kush, Plimpton, Meglino and junior Shanalyn Sweigart (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) won with a time of 2:18.90.
Both teams return to action on Friday when they visit Widener University at 7 p.m. in a Commonwealth Conference meet.
