SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior guard Erin Eaby (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) recorded game-highs of 16 points and five steals while freshman guard Allie Butler (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) added 15 points and a game-high eight assists, leading the Lebanon Valley College women’s basketball team to an 83-63 Commonwealth Conference victory Saturday afternoon.
The win extended LVC’s winning streak to seven, as the team improved to 12-1 and 3-1 in the Commonwealth Conference. The Flying Dutchmen have not lost since falling to Messiah College on Dec. 6.
Susquehanna dropped to 4-10 and 0-4 in the Commonwealth with the loss. Lauren Manley and Andrea Carlson each scored a team-high 10 points for the Crusaders.
Lebanon Valley scored over 80 points for the seventh time this season and for the third time in its last four outings.
Eaby shot 8-for-11 from the floor while Butler went 6-for-7, leading a 50.0% LVC shooting effort. The Crusaders shot just 32.9% from the field and 14.3% (3-for-21) from three-point range.
LVC never trailed after racing out to a 12-2 lead over the game’s opening 5:03. The Dutchmen took a 47-21 lead at halftime, and Susquehanna was unable to get it under 20 in the second half.
Freshman guard Ashley Thompson (Waldorf, Md./West Lake) scored six points and pulled down a career-high six rebounds for the Valley while junior center Jennifer Northcott (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) registered eight points, five rebounds and three blocks. Junior forward Tamika Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Milford Academy) contributed nine points and five rebounds.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts Widener University in a Commonwealth Conference tilt starting at 7 p.m. in the LVC Gymnasium.
