Women’s Hoops Defeats Wilkes, Off to Best Start in School History

photoWILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Five different Lebanon Valley players reached double digits in scoring, and the Flying Dutchmen defeated host Wilkes University 86-61 in a MAC non-conference women’s basketball game Saturday evening.

With the win, LVC’s fifth in a row, the Dutchmen (10-1) are off to their best start through 11 games in program history.

Lebanon Valley has now scored over 80 points in six of its 11 games this season.

Junior center Jennifer Northcott (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led all players with 19 points to go with six rebounds while junior guard Erin Eaby (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) recorded 15 points and tied a career-high with seven steals. Freshman guard Allie Butler (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) tossed in 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting while handing out a game-high six assists.

Freshman forward Monica Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown) added 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting in 16 minutes off the bench while junior forward Tamika Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Milford Academy) tossed in 11 points on 7-of-8 free-throw shooting.

Andrea Kacprowicz led Wilkes (1-9) with 18 points. Andrea DeMaranville added 11 points while Corinne Stewart registered five blocked shots.

Lebanon Valley shot a season-high 50.7% (35-of-69) from the field while the Colonels shot 41.2%. The Dutchmen logged 15 steals and forced Wilkes to turn the ball over 25 times.

LVC returns to Commonwealth Conference action on Wednesday when it hosts Moravian College at 7 p.m.
