ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lycoming won two out of three doubles matches, but Lebanon Valley came back to take third through sixth singles and LVC came away with a season-opening 5-4 victory over Lycoming College in MAC non-conference women’s tennis action Thursday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.
Lebanon Valley dropped the first and second doubles points, but sophomores Angie Petiak (Wapwallopen, Pa./Berwick) and Jenny Larson (Kelso, Wash./Kelso) earned an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, the bottom of the lineup came through for LVC. Junior Lindsey Noll (Schaefferstown, Pa./ELCO) earned a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at third singles while senior Kelly Stauffer (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) registered a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at No. 4. Junior Chris Jessen (Newfield, N.J./Woodstown) was a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 winner at No. 5 singles and Petiak won 6-2, 6-1 at sixth singles for her second victory of the day.
Lebanon Valley returns to the courts on Saturday, when it travels to Juniata College in the team’s Commonwealth Conference opener starting at 1 p.m.
