ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley won all three doubles matches and took three out of six singles points to defeat Wilkes University 7-2 in a MAC non-conference match Saturday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.
The Flying Dutchmen improved to 6-2 overall while the Colonels fell to 2-4.
In doubles action, senior Amora Cook (Schaefferstown, Pa./ELCO) and sophomore Sophia Kwon (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) captured an 8-0 win at first doubles while senior Kelly Stauffer (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and junior Chris Jessen (Newfield, N.J./Woodstown) won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Sophomores Angie Petiak (Wapwallopen, Pa./Berwick) and Jenny Larson (Kelso, Wash./Kelso) won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles to move LVC into the singles matches with a 3-0 lead.
Cook registered a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 1, and Kwon took the No. 2 match in three sets 3-6, 6-0, 6-2. Stauffer logged a 6-3, 6-1 win in the fourth slot, and sophomore Amanda Lubold (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) claimed the sixth singles match 6-2, 6-2.
Lebanon Valley returns to the courts on Tuesday when the team hosts Moravian College in a 4 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match-up.
