ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team won a pair of matches in impressive style at the Flying Dutchman Invitational on Friday at Lynch Gymnasium.
LVC opened with a 3-0 (30-24, 30-13, 30-23) sweep over Penn State-Altoona, then came back with another shutout, this time blanking King’s College 30-25, 30-22, and 30-14.
Lebanon Valley will conclude pool play Saturday at 10 a.m. when it takes on Roberts Wesleyan College (N.Y.). With a victory, LVC will advance to Saturday’s championship match.
Against Penn State-Altoona, sophomore Lexi Horstman (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) fronted the Valley with nine kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Katie Ferree (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) came up with 17 digs while freshman Steph Bedgar (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) dealt eight kills. Senior Sherri Pursel (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) added 11 digs. While sophomore Cat Roth (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and senior Amanda Bahn (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) came up with 10 digs apiece.
Bahn had another big match against King’s. She recorded eight kills, nine digs and four blocks. Bedgar drilled nine kills Horstman had seven kills and six blocks. Ferree contributed 16 digs.
