Women’s Tennis Downs York, 7-2

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Competing in a rare spring match and playing for the first time since its Spring Break trip, the Lebanon Valley College women's tennis team defeated York College 7-2 Monday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.

Lebanon Valley (13-7) concluded the season with seven wins in its last eight matches, dating back to the fall season. York (4-3) saw its four-match winning streak come to an end.

The Valley rallied from large deficits to win first and second doubles and picked up a victory at third doubles to build an early 3-0 lead. LVC went on to win four of six singles matches, although three of those matches went to a tiebreaker set.

Junior Amora Cook (Schaefferstown, Pa./ELCO) and senior Jenelle Zeigler (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Comm.) fell behind 7-4 at first doubles but came back to win 9-7. At No. 2 doubles, junior Kristen Barone (Womelsdorf, Pa./Tulpehocken) and senior Robyn Sotak (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) stormed back from a 6-1 hole to win 8-6.

Freshmen Sophia Kwon (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and Amanda Lubold (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) completed LVC's doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.

Cook also captured a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win at first singles while Zeigler earned a victory at No. 2 singles when her opponent retired at the start of the tiebreaker set.

Kwon added a 6-4, 6-3 win at fourth singles and freshman Angie Petiak (Wapwallopen, Pa./Berwick) won 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 at No. 6 singles.
