ANNVILLE, Pa. – Junior Andy Platt (York, Pa./York Suburban) won 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 6 singles to put LVC ahead 4-2 with the match-clinching point as the Flying Dutchmen defeated Elizabethtown 4-3 in another extremely close Commonwealth Conference match Sunday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.
Lebanon Valley (10-4, 4-1 CC), which also defeated Albright 4-3 on Saturday, won for the ninth time in its last 10 matches. Elizabethtown (9-4, 2-2 CC) lost for just the second time in its last seven outings.
E-town and LVC split the first and second doubles matches before the third tandem of Josh Miller and Maurits Dekker rallied from a 6-1 deficit to win 9-7 and give the Blue Jays the doubles point.
Platt and senior Ryan Arnold (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) won 8-1 at second doubles.
Senior Chris Hileman (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson), sophomore Ryan Wendell (Shiloh, N.J./Cumberland Regional) and senior Brock Hoover (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) each came out on top in singles play for the Dutchmen. Hileman won 6-1, 6-2 at first singles as he improved to 10-3 this season while recording his 68th career singles victory, one short of Josh Shellenberger's '99 school record. Wendell picked up a 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 win at third singles to hike his record to 10-4 on the year while Hoover copped a 6-2, 6-4 win at fourth singles to move to 8-1.
