ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley won at second and third doubles, then swept Nos. 3-6 singles en route to a 5-2 victory over Wilkes University in a MAC non-conference match Tuesday afternoon at the LVC Tennis Courts.

The match was the Flying Dutchmen’s home opener and was the first home event for any Lebanon Valley spring sports team.

LVC improved to 2-3 on the season while Wilkes fell to 0-4.

Lebanon Valley earned the doubles point on the strength of two 8-2 victories. Sophomore Ryan Wendell (Shiloh, N.J./Cumberland Regional) and junior Zach Jarrett (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) teamed up to win at the second slot while senior Brock Hoover (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) and junior Chris Keeney (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) came away victorious at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Hoover captured a 6-0, 6-2 win at third singles in his season debut while Wendell won by a 6-1, 6-4 count at No. 4 singles. Keeney copped a 7-6, 4-6 win at fifth singles in his first match of the year and Jarrett completed the Valley’s scoring with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 6 singles.

Lebanon Valley continues its season Thursday when the team travels to York College for a non-conference match starting at 3:30 p.m.
