Swimming Sweeps Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Freshman Isaac Greene (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) and sophomore Joanna Tiedeken (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) won two events apiece as the Lebanon Valley College men’s and women’s swimming teams swept Arcadia University Tuesday evening.

Lebanon Valley improved to 4-6 on the men’s side while the women’s squad pushed its record to 4-8.

Greene captured both the 1,000-meter free (10:59.86) and the 200-meter individual medley (2:11.35) to lead the men’s team to a 127-34 victory. Other individual winners included sophomore Paul Curcio (Massapequa, N.Y./Massaqequa) (200-meter freestyle, 2:26.10), sophomore Kyle Cope (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) (50-meter freestyle, 25.99), junior Adam Demchak (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) (100-meter butterfly, 1:06.26) and senior Walt Smith (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) (100-meter backstroke, 1:09.21).

In addition, the Dutchmen won both relay events. Smith, junior Taylor Reinhard (Halifax, Pa./Halifax), Greene and Demchak won the 200-meter medley relay in 1:54.73 while Cope, sophomore Chris Whitcomb (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), sophomore Rusty Bentz (Newport, Pa./Newport) and Reinhard captured the 200-meter free relay in 1:46.94.

Tiedeken touched the wall first in both the 50-meter freestyle (28.70) and the 200-meter individual medley (2:42.41) as the women’s team emerged with a 128-76 win. Additional LVC winners included freshman Sam Meglino (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley), (100-meter butterfly, 1:13.57) freshman Jenn Kush (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) (100-meter backstroke, 1:06.47), sophomore Shannon Gamble (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) (500-meter freestyle, 6:27.17) and senior Jenn Brown (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) (100-meter breaststroke, 1:24.89).

Kush, Meglino, junior Megan Deveney (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) and junior Lauren Procopio (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) won the 200-meter medley relay in 2:09.13 while junior Julia Falkner (Street, Md./North Harford), Meglino, freshman Jackie Neely (Mantua, N.J./Clearview) and Procopio teamed for a victory in the 200-meter free relay (1:57.55).

Both teams return to action on Feb. 14-16 when they travel to Susquehanna University for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships.
