READING, Pa. - Junior guard Erin Eaby (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) scored a game and career-high 28 points and the Lebanon Valley College women's basketball team won its Commonwealth Conference opener, defeating Albright College 75-57 Tuesday evening in the Bollman Center.
Lebanon Valley (4-0, 1-0 CC) won its fourth straight game to open the season.
Eaby shot a sizzling 11-for-15 from the field and was 3-of-4 from three-point range. She also converted all three of her foul shots. In addition, Eaby tied a career-high with seven steals.
Marie Levins scored 19 points to pace Albright (2-2, 0-1 CC).
Junior center Jennifer Northcott (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) posted her second straight double-double for LVC, as she recorded 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Junior forward Tamika Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Milford Academy) added 11 points and a career-high five assists while junior guard Crystal Gibson (Randallstown, Md./Randallstown) handed out a game-high six assists.
Lebanon Valley never trailed after outscoring Albright 9-0 and 19-5 to open the game. LVC held the Lions scoreless over the opening 3:25.
The Valley took a 34-24 lead into the halftime intermission and extended its advantage to as much as 22 (59-37) with 8:59 left in the game.
LVC returns to action on Thursday, when it visits McDaniel College in a non-conference match-up starting at 7 p.m. Lebanon Valley plays its inaugural game in the LVC Gymnasium on Saturday when it takes on Messiah College at 4 p.m.
