ANNVILLE, Pa. – Led by a balanced scoring attack, No. 19 Franklin & Marshall defeated Lebanon Valley 77-56 in non-conference men’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the LVC Gymnasium.
Junior forward Bobby Lynch and senior center Steve Juskin scored a team-high 15 points apiece for the Diplomats (5-1) while senior guard Jackiem Wright tossed in 12 points. Junior center Danny Lynch tallied 11 points and sophomore guard Brandon Smith netted 10.
Bobby Lynch posted a game-high nine rebounds while Juskin led all players with eight assists.
Junior guard J.D. Byers (Westminster, Md./Westminster) registered a game-high 18 points for Lebanon Valley (4-3). Sophomore forward Dave Kasyan (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) added 14 points.
F&M shot 46.2% for the game while LVC made 39.2% of its shots. The Diplomats held a 40-29 advantage in the rebounding department.
Franklin & Marshall led 37-28 at the half and broke open the game over the first five minutes of the second stanza. The Dips outscored the Dutchmen 17-4 to start the second half to assume a commanding 54-30 lead with 14:47 remaining. LVC was unable to cut the gap to less than 19 the rest of the way.
Franklin & Marshall led 5-0 in the game’s opening minutes, but a 10-2 LVC spurt put the Valley on top 10-7 with 15:25 left in the opening half. Byers scored eight straight points for the Dutchmen during the stretch.
LVC led 18-17 with 10:16 to go in the first half, but Danny Lynch dropped in a layup with 9:30 to go as the Dips took the lead for good. The game was tied at 24 with 8:05 on the clock before a 10-0 F&M run gave the team a 34-24 advantage with 3:20 left in the first half.
Lebanon Valley returns to action next Saturday when it visits Richard Stockton (N.J.) College at 2 p.m. in a non-conference tilt.
