Women’s Hoops Wins Second Straight F&M Tournament

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior forward Tamika Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Milford Academy) recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds, and the Lebanon Valley College women’s basketball team defeated York College 86-77 on Sunday afternoon in the championship game of the Franklin & Marshall Tip-Off Tournament.

Lebanon Valley (2-0) also captured the tournament title last season with a win over Franklin & Marshall in the championship game.

Rogers’ outstanding performance included 9-for-12 shooting at the foul line and 6-for-12 marksmanship from the field.

Rogers, who scored 32 points and 18 rebounds over the two-game event, was named to the All-Tournament Team, as was junior center Jennifer Northcott (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham). Northcott posted a 20-point, seven-rebound effort in the championship and was also named as the tournament MVP. She accumulated 39 points and 13 rebounds for the tournament.

Junior forward Erin Eaby (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) aided the Flying Dutchmen with her second straight game of reaching double figures in scoring with 15 points to finish the tournament with 28 points.

Freshman guard Ashley Thompson (Waldorf, Md./West Lake) was a major factor coming off the bench. Thompson pocketed 10 steals, just three shy of the LVC single-game record set by Miriam Anthony ’01 in 2001.

Sophomore guard Min-Leigh Myers (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) added a career-high 14 points.

LVC led 41-37 at the half and outscored the Spartans 45-40 in the second stanza. The Valley shot 41.7% from the field but just 16.7% (2 for 12) from three-point range.

Kirstin Brown and Mandy Crabbs scored 17 points apiece to lead York as all five Spartan starters reached double figures in scoring. However, York received just eight points from its bench.

Lebanon Valley forced York into 29 turnovers.

The Dutchmen return to action on Saturday when they travel to Lehman (N.Y.) College for a non-conference affair starting at 2 p.m.
