ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Christy Puthawala (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) scored twice and the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team clinched its first-ever home Commonwealth Conference playoff game with a 2-0 Commonwealth victory Albright College in LVC's final regular season conference match on Thursday afternoon at Herbert Field.

Lebanon Valley (10-2-4), ranked fifth in the Mid-Atlantic region, is currently in first place in the Commonwealth standings. The team will play a team to be determined in the Commonwealth semifinals on Tuesday afternoon at Herbert Field.

LVC, which has won four straight and has lost just once in its last 11 outings, could win the regular season Commonwealth title if Elizabethtown College beats or ties Messiah College on Saturday.

With a conference record of 5-0-2, Lebanon Valley completed its first-ever undefeated season in the Commonwealth.

Albright fell to 6-10-3 and 0-6-1 in the Commonwealth with the loss.

After a scoreless first half, Puthawala converted a pass from senior Kim McDonald (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) in the 67th minute to give LVC all the scoring it would need. Puthawala struck again in the 72nd minute, this time off an assist from senior Katie Altemose (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) to set the final score.

With 25 career assists, McDonald is now just one shy of the school record held by Robyn LaRosa '02. Altemose's assist upped her career total to 21.

Sophomore keeper Jess Conrad (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had a light day in goal for LVC. Conrad recorded one save while facing just three shots to earn her fifth shutout of the season.

Junior Lauren McGuirl stopped nine shots for Albright.

Lebanon Valley concludes its regular season when it visits College Misericordia at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
