ANNVILLE, Pa. – Susquehanna University defeated Lebanon Valley 3-1 in a Commonwealth Conference men’s soccer match Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Herbert Field.
Lebanon Valley fell to 5-12-0 and 1-5 in the Commonwealth while Susquehanna improved to 7-8-1 and 3-2-0 in conference play.
The game was the final home match of the season for Lebanon Valley. The contest also marked the end of a seven-game LVC homestand, which saw the Flying Dutchmen go 2-5-0.
The Crusaders took a 1-0 lead into the halftime intermission after senior Brandon Emery scored off a feed from freshman Nate Snyder in the 24th minute. Emery and Snyder made it 2-0 in favor of the Crusaders in the 62nd minute when Snyder converted a pass from Emery.
The Flying Dutchmen pulled to within 2-1 after freshman Adam Burns (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) scored his first collegiate goal. Burns knocked in a header with sophomore Matt Rich (Summerdale, Pa./East Pennsboro) providing the assist.
Susquehanna set the final score when junior Stephan Oluwole scored an unassisted goal in the 80th minute.
Freshman Austin Kelsey recorded six saves to pick up the win in goal for Susquehanna. Senior Taylor Reinhard (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) stopped five Crusader shots while suffering the loss for LVC.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Tuesday when the team visits Eastern University in a non-conference match starting at 3 p.m.
