GRANTHAM, Pa. – Lebanon Valley took a 2-0 lead, but Messiah stormed back to win the final three games en route to a 3-2 Commonwealth Conference victory Wednesday evening.
The Flying Dutchmen (16-10, 4-2 CC) won 30-14 in the opening game and 30-28 in the second set, but the Falcons came back with consecutive 30-28, 32-30 and 15-12 victories to pick up the comeback win.
Sophomore Lexi Horstman (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) enjoyed an outstanding match for the Valley. Horstman fired up season-highs of 24 kills and 22 digs to go with three blocks. Junior Amanda Bahn (York, Pa./Spring Grove) added 17 kills and 15 digs while senior Sherri Pursel (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) had 12 kills and 19 digs. Sophomore Cat Roth (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) contributed 47 assists, 16 digs and three aces and classmate Katie Ferree (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) logged 21 digs.
Lebanon Valley returns to the courts on Saturday when it travels to the Gallaudet (D.C.) University Invitational.
