Lebanon Valley College Athletics

Women’s Tennis Defeats York, 6-2

YORK, Pa. – Lebanon Valley won two out of three doubles matches, then won four singles sets and defeated York College 6-2 in non-conference action.

The Flying Dutchmen improved to 7-3 with the victory and won for the third time in its last four matches.

In doubles action, senior Amora Cook (Schaefferstown, Pa./ELCO) and sophomore Sophia Kwon (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) teamed up for a 9-7 win at the first flight as the pair evened its season record at 4-4. Sophomores Angie Petiak (Wapwallopen, Pa./Berwick) and Jenny Larson (Kelso, Wash./Kelso) picked up an 8-3 win at third doubles while improving to 6-2 on the season.

Cook was also victorious at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0 to improve to 5-5 this season. Senior Kelly Stauffer (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) added a 6-2, 6-0 win at fourth singles and upped her season record to 6-3. Sophomore Amanda Lubold (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) contributed a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 5 singles to push her record to 6-2 while Petiak claimed a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at sixth singles. Petiak is now 3-0 in singles play.

Kwon had her match at No. 2 singles called due to darkness.

Lebanon Valley returns to action on Friday, when it concludes its 2003 Commonwealth Conference regular season schedule with a 3:30 p.m. match at Messiah College.
