SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 MAC non-conference decision to the No. 16 University of Scranton on Tuesday afternoon.
The loss was the first in six matches for LVC (6-3-2), ranked No. 5 in the latest Mid-Atlantic region poll. The Royals stayed undefeated at 14-0-1 and won for the ninth game in a row. The win also Scranton’s 14th shutout of the season.
Scranton got on the scoreboard in the 29th minute when Meghan Calpin drilled in a header off a corner kick. The Royals padded their lead in the second half when Colleen Murphy converted a penalty kick in the 52nd minute.
Sophomore Jess Conrad (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) recorded seven saves for LVC while Kim McCormick stopped three shots to pick up the win in goal for Scranton.
The Royals out-shot LVC 23-6 and held a 9-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Lebanon Valley returns home on Thursday to host Moravian College in a Commonwealth Conference match starting at 4 p.m.
