Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Steph Marguglio (Bridgeton, N.J./Bridgeton) scored a pair of goals over a 3:10 span early in the first half to lead the No. 16 Lebanon Valley College field hockey team to its sixth straight victory, a 2-1 win over Susquehanna University in a Commonwealth Conference match-up Saturday afternoon at the LVC Field Hockey Stadium.

Lebanon Valley (9-2, 3-0 CC), which has not lost since Sept. 16, also stayed perfect in Commonwealth play while the Crusaders (6-6, 2-2 CC) lost their second straight conference game.

Marguglio put the Valley on top 1-0 when she scored off an assist from junior Lindsey McCormick (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) 4:23 into the game. Marguglio’s second goal of the day, her team-leading eighth tally of the season, came off the stick of junior Fairyn McCleary (Wrightsville, Pa./Eastern York) with 27:27 to go in the opening stanza.

Susquehanna cut the gap in half after Ashlee Kraft scored off a helper from Terri Peiffer with 21:18 left in the first half. But that’s the last goal either team would score and LVC held on for the win.

Freshman Katie Pawlewicz (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) went the distance in goal for LVC, saving seven Crusader shots while running her record to 8-1. Shannon Baker came up with two saves for Susquehanna.

Lebanon Valley returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Elizabethtown College at 4 p.m. in another Commonwealth contest.
