Swim Teams Sweep King’s

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men’s and women’s swimming teams swept King’s College this afternoon in a Middle Atlantic Conference meet.

The men’s team emerged with an 89-48 victory to move to 2-4 on the season and 1-4 in the MAC. The women’s team won by a count of 150-54 to pick up its first victory of the season, improving to 1-6 and 1-5 in the MAC.

LVC captured four victories on the men’s side, highlighted by freshman Isaac Greene’s (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) record-breaking showing in the 100-meter butterfly. Greene won the event in 1:05.76 to set a new school record. Greene was also victorious in the 400-meter freestyle (4:39.38).

Junior Taylor Reinhard (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) and senior Walt Smith (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) captured one event apiece. Reinhard touched the wall first in the 50-meter freestyle and qualified for the MAC Championships with a time of 27.04. Smith won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:16.86.

On the women’s side, freshman Jenn Kush (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) won both the 50-meter freestyle (30.34) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:11.12) while qualifying for MAC’s in the 50-freestyle. Kush was also part of the 200-meter medley relay team that placed first and set a new school record with a 2:17.60 clocking. Joining Kush on the team were junior Julia Falkner (Street, Md./North Harford), freshman Sam Meglino (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) and sophomore Joanna Tiedeken (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West).

Falkner, Meglino, sophomore Shannon Gamble (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and Tiedeken also earned individual victories. Falkner prevailed in both the 200-meter IM (3:00.68) and the 100-meter breaststroke and qualified for the MAC Championships in the 100 breaststroke. Meglino was the winner in the 100-meter butterfly (1:20.37) while Gamble took first in both the 200-meter freestyle (2:42.41) and the 400-meter freestyle (5:50.51). Tiedeken won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:05.76.

In addition, the women’s team of freshman Jackie Neely (Mantua, N.J./Clearview), junior Kristen Stichler (Cleona, Pa./Cedar Crest), Meglino and junior Lauren Procopio (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) won the 200-meter freestyle relay in 2:09.60.

Both the men’s and women’s teams return to action next Saturday with a non-conference dual meet against Cabrini College at 1 p.m.
